Conference

7 Apr 2008
The Road to Tenant Control conference was the last of three regional ATIC conferences designed to promote the Tenant Empowerment Programme.

The London conference was organised by Solon Community Network, Source Partnership and Safer Neighbourhood Units (SNU). It was held in the Abbey Centre, Westminster on 27 February 2008. All three conferences were funded by the Housing Corporation through the Special Projects Grant.

The aim of the conference was to raise awareness among tenants and officers of local authorities, housing associations and Tenant Management Organisations about the opportunities for increasing resident involvement in the management of their homes, estates and services.

The London conference focused on:
  • The review of the Tenant Empowerment Programme
  • Key elements of the revised Right to Manage Guidance
  • Tenant Led Stock Options and tenant management options for council and housing associations tenants
  • Issues facing and options for existing TMOs
The feedback received from residents and officers who attended the event was very positive. In particular, participants found the workshops and the opportunity to network to be very useful.
